SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under general direction from the Service and Support Team Manager, and with a high degree of independence, this role is responsible for leading complex initiatives with both business and technical staff in gathering requirements, prioritizing initiatives, architecting solutions, and presenting/implementing technical and functional capabilities in support of projects, contracts, grants, and operational needs within the College of Medicine.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Leads in gathering, analyzing, and presenting the technical and functional needs of the business on projects, grants, contracts, and operational needs
Consult with business to identify needs and requirements as part of COM projects, grant proposals, contracts and operational needs
Ensure technical needs are identified and communicated to the technical teams clearly and in a timely manner. Assist business in preparing the technical aspects of business cases as part of the project intake process, engaging with other IS teams, vendors, and third parties as needed to ensure completeness of the submission
Lead small to medium-sized project support and/or projects with a high level of complexity. As part of the project support team, assist with project management activities for small to medium-sized projects and/or projects with a high level of complexity. Activities may include gathering, prioritizing and presenting technical and functional requirements for the project or initiative
Works with business sponsors and stakeholders to understand and communicate their needs to technical staff and ensure project tasks are defined and documented
Responsible for documenting, communication and reporting project work as needed
Lead in producing and maintaining documentation on systems and services. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in the research and education IT space with respect to project planning and management, operational needs, and organizational cybersecurity policies and procedures
Working with PMO and COM-IT staff, ensure that all assigned projects with in COM-IT portfolio are maintained. Work with team in supporting the overall COM-IT project portfolio
Identify and coordinate improvements to project management processes and procedures for the COM-IT department. Assist in operational and tactical capacities as needed, based on priorities. Reviewing and communicating new trends and advances in technology from a research and education perspective
Maintain familiarity with current and new technology standards and procedures
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Bachelor's Degree
Four (4) additional years of related experience
